What's your TV source?

NTSC (SD) NTSC SD setup Recording:
  • Analog Cable
  • Record from an analog cable connection. SnapStream has built-in tuners that can capture any analog cable channel.
  • Digital Cable or Satellite
  • Record from the analog (Composite or S-Video) audio/video outputs on any cable or satellite set-top box. SnapStream can tune cable or satellite receivers using IR blasting in order to capture any channel.
Searching: SnapStream can search NTSC recordings using closed-captioning data.
ATSC (HD) ATSC HD setup Recording: Record from any digital antenna (indoor or outdoor). SnapStream has built-in tuners that can capture any ATSC channel.
Searching: SnapStream can search ATSC recordings using closed-captioning data.
Clear QAM (HD) QAM setup Recording:
  • Clear QAM (HD)
  • Record from your existing in-house digital line-up, or capture any channels broadcast in the clear by your cable providers

  • Providers have been known to frequently change which channels are broadcast in the clear, and this option is generally not well-supported

  • SnapStream has built-in tuners that can capture any QAM channel.
  • Custom Clear QAM from Cable or Satellite (HD)
  • Record HD output from digital cable or satellite set-top boxes via QAM encoders. SnapStream can recommend a QAM encoder configuration to complete your HD TV recording setup.

  • This option entails an additional cost for QAM encoders, which are available from many manufacturers, including Drake, Blonder Tongue, AdTech, Contemporary Research, and others. One option that we frequently recommend is the Drake DSE24, which retails for approximately $1400/per channel.

  • SnapStream can tune cable or satellite receivers using IR blasting in order to capture any channel.
Searching: SnapStream can search QAM recordings using closed-captioning data if it is passed through by the QAM encoder.
ASI ASI setup Recording: Record digital channels transmitted over coax cable using ASI.
Searching: SnapStream can search recordings captured from ASI that include closed-captioning data.
IPTV IPTV setup Recording: Record digital channels transmitted over IP. SnapStream supports Transport Streams with either MPEG-2 or H.264 video formats. Currently recording is only available for UDP Multicast - contact us regarding support for other standards.
Searching: SnapStream can search recordings captured from IP that include closed-captioning data.

International

PAL PAL SD setup Recording:
  • Analog Cable
  • Record from an analog cable connection. SnapStream has built-in tuners that can capture any analog cable channel.
  • Digital Cable or Satellite
  • Record from the analog (Composite or S-Video) audio/video outputs on any cable or satellite set-top box. SnapStream can tune cable or satellite receivers using IR blasting in order to capture any channel.
Searching: Search is not currently available for PAL TV.
DVB-T DVB-T HD setup Recording: Record from any digital antenna (indoor or outdoor). SnapStream has built-in tuners that can capture any DVB-T channel.
Searching: SnapStream can search DVB-T recordings that include text-based subtitles. Search is not available for image-based subtitles.
